Thanks For What You Do
I once visited a small village of about 500 people in Africa. About 10 people from this village would sit next to a road each day selling baskets. This road had almost no traffic at all. Hours would go by before a car or truck would drive past; and to me it looked like a really hard place to sell anything. I found out that on most days no baskets would be sold at all; but that every month or two, some traders would drive past and purchase almost all of their baskets.

I then learned that this basket business was the main industry for the whole village. Other than some very small farms, there was really no other way that money could come into this community. Until the traders would come by, the people in this community would not have cash for medicine and other basic needs.

There are thousands of villages like this one across Africa. Sometimes people sell shea butter or fabric or something else; but the people in the community normally share whatever money they can get from these sales based on who needs it most in their community. If someone is sick or has another special need for money, and the traders do not come past to buy things, life gets really hard for someone.

Your work marketing these products makes a real difference. When you sell an African made product, you allow these buyers to go to villages like this one. You allow money to get to people who really need it. The extra hour you work on your business late at night; or the extra people you go out of your way to tell about these products; is a really big deal to someone.

No one in Africa will probably ever say thank you to you for this. So thank you for all of the work that you do that helps so many people you will never meet.
